Conducting course in Wartburg

Angelika Johannes, Panbult

During the week from the 18th to 23rd of March 2024, a choir conducting course took place in Wartburg under the direction of the regional church music director Markus Leidenberger from Saxony, Germany.

This event was a joint initiative of the NELCSA and the FELSISA.

The first half of this training programme took place in Pretoria in 2019 and has now been continued with the same participants.

After the first half focused on conducting techniques, harmony and working with the hymnal, this training course focused intensively on the rehearsal of selected choral pieces, interpretation of the music and aural training.

Each prospective conductor was critiqued and guided according to their level, so that all participants found the week extremely instructive. We would like to thank everyone who made this course possible!
