Championing Lutheran Theological Education and Pastoral Leadership
I was born on 12 October 1980 and grew up in the farming community of Piet Retief, being a member of the Wittenberg congregation. When I had finishing school, I went to study at the University of Pretoria (1999-2001), successfully completing a BCom degree in Business Management. Thereafter I spend some time in the UK on a working holiday, before I started my theological studies with a B.A. degree (2004-2006), again at the University of Pretoria. I continued my studies at the Lutherische Theologische Hochschule in Oberursel, Germany (2007-2012), which includes some semesters at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Goethe University Frankfurt. After completing my studies in Germany, I started my vicarage in the Kirchdorf and Our Saviour congregations, while at the same time enrolling in a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies at the University of Pretoria. I finished the Ph.D. programme in 2016. I served as pastor of the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, Greytown (2014-2019).
