Deepening Lutheran Doctrine Through Global Studies and Local Ministry
I am Rüdiger Ernst Gevers. I grew up on a farm in the Lüneburg area and was baptised and confirmed in the Lüneburg Congregation (KZN). After completing school and National Service, I studied economics (BCom) before switching to Theology. I studied at the University of Pretoria and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Ancient Languages) in 1994. From 1994 – 2000 I studied Theology at the Lutheran Theological University in Oberursel, Germany. I completed my basic studies there in February 1996 and my master-studies in September 2000. During that time I also studied at the University in Erlangen and the University in Göttingen. Having returned to South Africa, completing the vicarage in Kirchdorf congregation (November 2000 – December 2001) and passing the 2nd Theological Exam of the FELSISA, I was ordained on 28 April 2002 in Lüneburg. I was called by Panbult Congregation and installed as Pastor of the FELSISA congregations in Panbult (German) and Piet Retief (Afrikaans) on 12 May 2002.
