Harmonising Worship
The Organists’ Association of the FELSISA
The Organists’ Association of the Free Evangelical Lutheran Synod in South Africa (FELSISA) plays a pivotal role in the musical life of our congregations. Comprising all the organists within the FELSISA, the association is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of our services through the art of organ playing.

Mission and Role
The primary mission of the Organists’ Association is to accompany congregational singing during Divine Services and to enrich these services with beautifully arranged organ music. Organists are crucial in leading worship, setting a reverent tone, and helping the congregation to lift their voices in unified praise and prayer.
Training and Development
Recognising the importance of continuous improvement and professional growth, the association organises regular meetings and training sessions. These gatherings provide organists with the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and access a wealth of resources including sheet music and training materials. Such initiatives not only enhance the skill set of current organists but also foster a sense of community and mutual support among them.
Mentoring and Nurturing Talent
With an eye to the future, the Organists’ Association is actively involved in mentoring emerging talent. By offering piano and organ lessons to young individuals interested in church music, the association ensures a continual influx of skilled musicians ready to step into roles within the church. This mentoring process is vital for sustaining the musical heritage of the FELSISA and ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy and participate in organ-led worship.
