Student Ministry in Pretoria

It seems appropriate to take the opportunity with this final “student ministry report” to express my gratitude to the FELSISA, its pastors, and many individual members for the kind and cordial reception I’ve received over the last three years.

It has been in many ways a good experience and in every way a rewarding experience to serve the ministry of the gospel among you in South Africa. It’s certainly been challenging, and I’ve often been forced by the circumstances to admit what we all should admit so readily – that any successes are the result of God’s grace alone, and that I can give thanks that He curbs the consequences of my mistakes. He’s done this often, for which I am thankful. I’m likewise especially thankful for each of the students I’ve worked with.

I believe that the work with university students has also helped to prepare me for the next task. I’ve recently received and accepted a call to serve as an assistant professor of Systematic Theology at Concordia University – Chicago. This is especially exciting for me, not only because I’ll be able to continue working with students and to teach, but also because Chicago is pretty close to home. I’ve been away from the US ten of the last twelve years, so I’m looking forward to seeing my family on a regular basis again. I’ll be close enough to reach everyone by car within a few hours. I start in Chicago on August 1.

Many of you will have heard by now that I’m engaged. Tiia is from Finland, and that’s where I’ll be headed right

Pastor Dr Jacob Corzine, Pretoria
