Church Music Notes

Dear reader,

Maybe you know the mixed feelings one has when there is a person in the house (or the neighbours’ house for that matter) learning to play a musical instrument – especially a brass instrument! On the one hand, there is the very real concern for the safety of the plates and glasses in the cupboard, on the other hand, though the thankfulness for the development of new musical talent. Lots of love and patience is required for this!

Every Tuesday evening, Mr Hugo Köhne from the Our Saviour Congregation in Warburg demonstrates
bucket loads of love and patience, as 10-15 budding brass players from the local Pella-Congregation (LCSA) enter his workshop. Besides learning how to play a brass instrument, the youngsters are also instructed in music theory. And yes, it is a loud affair – very loud in fact! It is simply wonderful to see the enthusiasm of these young musicians and their teacher!

Hugo has ordered new instruments from Germany. But as always the finances for such a project are rather limited. And this is where you can help: If you have an unused brass
instrument lying around at home that you may want to get rid of, you can sponsor it for this (rather loud)
project. (Please contact Pastor Roland Johannes: rolandjohannes@felsisa.org.za).
